UNDP National Consultation
About 30 participants attended the UNDP funded National Consultation Workshop on Neglected Development Minerals which was held at the Tanoa Plaza Hotel, Suva. The Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Honourable Mereseini Vuniwaqa officially opened the workshop.
Mrs Vuniwaqa informed the participants that the Ministry is working meticulously to review the Mining Act. However on the other hand, the current Standard Operating Procedures of the Mining Divisions ensures Fiji’s Minerals are properly managed when guidelines are followed. She also mentioned that in Fiji, the iTLTB and the Ministry of Lands issues gravel extraction licenses and there are areas which needs improvement. Workshop as such should bring positive collaboration in resolving such underlying issues.
