PM Issues Approval Notices to 68 Families in Navua
Thursday 02 February 2017, marks a memorable day for the people of Navua. The Honorable Prime Minister issued approval notices to 68 families; in Naitata, Tokotoko, Vakacegu and Wanivedio Subdivision. This is the first batch to be issued for the year and also for the Central Division, said the Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources; Mr. Malakai Finau as he delivered the welcome speech.
To date the Ministry has issued a total of 217 approval notices, in which 72 was issued for the Western Division, 77 for the Northern Division and including the ones issued today.
“Never before have people living on informal settlements given security of tenure for a secured future and the regularisation of these informal settlements is an indication of how committed this Government is to its people, allowing them access to essential services and infrastructures” , Mr. Finau told those present to witness the event.
The Honorable Minister for Lands; Mr. Faiyaz Koya in his key note address, thanked the Hon. Prime Minister for his leadership, vision and commitment in enabling the regularizing of informal settlement a reality for our nation. Mr. Koya also highlighted in his speech; the global fight against climate change as the Prime Minister takes a leading role in this as President of the COP-23. In addition, taking the cause of small island states and all vulnerable low lying areas along with the rest of the international community on UN negotiation on how to confront climate change.
