The Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, Josefa Caniogo officiated the 2019 annual Fiji Institute of Surveyors (FIS) Congress at the Golden Point Resort in Rakiraki on 29th August, 2019.
Moreover, the FIS Congress 2019 theme is “The Application of Modern Day Technology to All Aspects of Surveying in Fiji”.
“Just like any other profession; land surveying has rapidly evolved over the past several decades due to new technological advances,” Mr. Caniogo highlighted.
He said that the Surveying instruments and methods have changed considerably with the advent of digital technology which have dramatically affected both the field and office components of surveying.
“Technology is helping Fiji quickly move forward in land development,” he noted.
Two surveyors were also awarded their official certificate from the Surveyors Registrations Board of Fiji declaring them as licensed surveyors during the congress.
Finally, the Permanent Secretary for Lands also launched the Fiji Institute of Surveyors website.
