A team consisting of surveyors and mapping experts have been deployed to Levuka for two weeks to conduct 3D Mapping of significant heritage buildings.
As part of the Ministry’s contribution towards the National Development Plan (5-20 years), the Geospatial Division of the Ministry have been tasked to map out heritage buildings throughout the country in collaboration with the National Trust of Fiji. This involves mapping using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) whereby the images are processed and uploaded to Vanua GIS for 3D Viewing.
Other activities covered in this field work includes field verification for topographic datasets that have been mapped using high resolution imageries, GPS data capture for spatial datasets in villages and settlements.
