The Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Hon. Jone Usamate visited the Navukebuli Groundwater Reticulation Project on Thursday 11 June 2020 and commended the hard work of the Geological Service team from the Mineral Resource Department who are currently working on this project.
The project has been just completed and is on a trial period of two weeks to allow the team to monitor any defects in the piping and solar system for this Reticulation Project. This project has cost the Government approximately over $50,000 which is benefiting 10 households consisting of 48 villagers.
During a Talanoa Session with the Navukebuli Villagers, Hon. Minister thanked them for their patience and support throughout the project.
The villagers also thanked the Hon. Minister and the Government of the day for the initiative as they are now benefiting from safe and clean drinking water. The villagers previously had to walk far distance to fetch water from a creek for consumption every morning and afternoon.
The Navukebuli Groundwater Project will be officially commissioned after the two weeks trial period proves no defects with a scheduled date set by the Ministry.
