Savusavu Public School to benefit from new borehole project
102 students, 5 teachers and their households of Savusavu Public School in Momi Bay now have safe and reliable source of water.
The school is located in one of the driest part of Viti Levu, Momi.
This was made possible after the commissioning of a borehole project by the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Hon. Jone Usamate. This project cost Government $49,000.
“Access to clean water is a fundamental right of every Fijian, as enshrined in the Fijian Constitution, and an essential component of sustainable development,” the Hon. Minister further stated.
The Head Teacher of Savusavu Public School, Mr. Raj thanked the Government of the day especially the Mineral Resources Department for coming to their rescue and providing the school with clean and safe drinking water.
Mr. Raj stated that they were using a 75 year old well over the years that was not safe for drinking.
He added that they wrote to the Department for assistance and thankful for finally having a borehole for the school.
