THE Surfing Decree does not stop investors from entering into agreements with i qoliqoli fishing rights owners, says Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Mereseini Vuniwaqa.
She made the comment after several people raised the issue during public consultations in Nadi at the weekend.
Mrs Vuniwaqa said the aim of the decree was to allow State resources to be available to all Fijians.
She said in previous years, an exclusive licence was granted for the use of the waves at Tavarua.
"There was an exclusive licence for the waves over Tavarua to be used by its guests only," she said.
