The survey Division is responsible for regulating and checking of all land surveys attended by registered surveyors (whether private or Government) in accordance with the Surveyors Act Cap 260.
It also develops and provides the network of survey control system nationwide which integrates the many isolated surveys implemented by individual surveyors on behalf of their clients throughout the country.It is also responsible for the development of state lands to the best and highest uses.
The division is made up of Survey sections based in three divisions namely:
1. Central Eastern Survey
2. Northern Survey
3. Western Survey
4. Control Section
They are responsible for the survey of all state lands and all iTaukei land lease to state & development of all state land.
To get into this field of work the minimum requirement is to get a Diploma in Land Surveying from FNU & Diploma in Geomatic from USP. When attempting to become a registered surveyor an individual has to complete five (5) projects within the two years given by the registration board.
The five (5) projects includes:
1. Country Survey
2. Town Survey
3. Engineering Survey
4. Subdivision Survey (Scheme Plan)
5. Control Survey (Geodetic)
